We have a global user base and with that comes a language barrier problem. In a bid to cater to our brothers and sisters of different continents and languages, we began testing multilingual support on our IMS with the aid of Google Translate.
Since the launch of that service, We’ve successfully handled live chat sessions in over 15 different languages and counting. One other challenge has been that all our tutorials & videos are in English so non-English speakers have to struggle understanding, armed with just Google Translate.
Google Translate does OK but isn’t reliable enough
An easy alternative would be to auto-translate our tutorials using Google Translate but its a well known fact that auto translation tools aren’t quite there yet. We wouldn’t want to unknowingly call someone’s Father a Donkey thanks to Google Translate would We 🙂 ? While they might be manageable for conversations, they aren’t for tutorials so human intervention would be needed.
Hovatek Needs You!
We are looking for volunteers / members who are fluent in English and another language to help us with translating a few of our tutorials. By volunteering, You’ll be helping those who aren’t fortunate enough to understand English like You.
How will this work?
- Reach out to us by commenting below or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Indicate which language You would like to help translate to
- We’ll send you some tutorials (transcripts) written in English and translated (using Google Translate) to the language You’ve chosen to help with
- All You have to do is compare and correct where Google Translate doesn’t get it right
We would greatly appreciate translators for
