Itel introduces its second Nougat phone; the Itel A31

Sequel to the Itel P51 (Itel’s first Nougat phone), Itel has introduced yet another Android Nougat phone, the Itel A31. The A31 is an entry level / budget phone and doesn’t really promise a bang for your buck but should come in handy as a spare phone or for below average users.

Itel A31 Key Specs

  • Android 7.0 Nougat
  • 2400 mAh Li-Polymer battery
  • Mediatek Chipset
  • 8.0 Megapixel (MP) Rear Camera
  • 2.0 MP Front camera
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8 GB ROM
  • 5 inch IPS screen
  • Quad-core, 1.3 GHz Processor

My opinion of the Itel A31

Selling Point

The only selling point of this model is its Android version which is one below the latest; Android 8.0 Oreo. I strongly doubt this phone will be getting that update so don’t hold your breath. Aside from that, this model falls head first and will only be ideal for below average or price conscious users.

Battery

Like its predecessors; the Itel A41 & Itel A41 Plus, the Itel A31 spots a 2400 mAh battery. This is pretty small for Itel which isn’t exactly notorious for long lasting batteries even at high capacities.

RAM & ROM

With the 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM / internal storage on this one, expect some lagging and overheating when performing heavy tasks. Itel phones are often between 512MB and 1GB RAM so this runs on the highest they’ve got 🙂 . If you want to enjoy this phone then ensure to root and debloat.

Camera

The Itel A31’s picture quality clearly won’t be spectacular but should come out OK. It spots a 2.0 MP Front / Secondary camera and an 8.0 MP Back / Primary camera just like its prequel; the Itel P51. Well, look on the bright side, the pictures won’t be sharp enough to reveal all those pimples and blackheads 🙂

Chipset & Processor

I’ve not had a smooth experience with Itel Quad Core 1.3 GHz but can’t complain because I wasn’t expecting more. The Mediatek chip would definitely give a smoother experience than if it had been running on Spreadtrum.

  1. When you over load the phone…even rooting it, it turns out to be a whoop in the ass…
Itel, in their little way has improved. I rooted my tecno y2, yes it was fun, but no it is a mess. Kudos to ITEL

  2. Itel power pro p41 please never buy itel products This phone freeze,a line appears on the screen and reboots ,this happen continously 6,7 times a day. This phone pisses me off

  3. Nonsense specs and outdated features, smartphones are upgrading with better features but Itel will never upgrade… Anyway cnt get an itel phone for even my enemy

    1. I very much agree that Itel phones are seriously lagging behind spec-wise but recall they are entry level phones and clearly not for users like you. I’ve had terrible experiences with Itel phones but with their move to the Mediatek platform, I believe this brand has an ambition.
