Infinix pushes Nougat bug fixes to the Infinix Hot 4 (X557), Note 3 (X601-H536A1) and Note 3 Pro (X601-H537A1) via OTA updates

A few weeks back, we announced that Infinix had pushed version updates from Marshmallow (Android 6) to Nougat (Android 7) to the Infinix Hot 4 (X557). The Infinix Note 3 & Note 3 Pro (both X601) had previously received a similar update and the Infinix Zero 3 (X552) got XOS v2.2 via OTA. As customary with fresh version updates, there’ll be bugs and that’s what subsequent OTA updates are for….to fix bugs.

Good news is that Infinix has rolled out OTA updates for the Hot 4 (X557), Note 3 (X601-H536A1) & Note 3 Pro (X601-H537A1) and these updates fix some bugs in the first Nougat build.

The OTA update Build Numbers are:

  • Infinix Hot 4: X557-H807AD-N-170512V44 @ 168.39 MB
  • Infinix Note 3: X601-H536A-N-170520V152 @ 520.34 MB
  • Infinix Note 3 Pro: X601-H537A-N-170520V103 @ 513.41 MB

Precautions to take before installing these OTA updates.

You are advised to take note of your phone’s Build Number as this has gotten very important on Mediatek (MTK) devices over the years. These 3 devices have several variants as you can see at our collection of Infinix stock ROMs / firmware. Armed with your Build Number, you can then proceed to dump / backup your phone’s firmware using Miracle Box just incase something goes wrong. Its also important you unroot your Infinix Hot 4 (X557), Note 3 (X601) or Note 3 Pro (X601) because OTA updates + a rooted device or custom recovery don’t get along too well.

Downloading and installing the Infinix Hot 4, Note 3 and Note 3 Pro Nougat OTA bug fixes

With your Build Number written out, your firmware backed up, a well charged battery, your phone unrooted and running on stock recovery, you’re set to install the Nougat bug fix OTA update. Ensure you have a strong internet connection and sufficient data then head to Settings > About > System updates. Search for, download then install the OTA update. Ensure to take note of your new Build Number after the update for future reference.
